The Pal Policy Agenda

What does the Parents Advocate League Organization provide?

  • A route to connect parents of all schools within a community or district.
  • A safe place to obtain answers to questions regarding their child's educational needs.
  • A link to educational resources.
  • A way to unite and hold a school district accountable for the best public education for their children.
  • A path to empower parents to educate themselves on issues and policies that can impact our children's futures.
  • The courage to fight the status quo in public education.

What is the PAL Policy Agenda?

We are dedicated to advocating for students in public education. Our Policy Agenda helps you see our goals and direction. The only thing missing is you. We need more parents, teachers and voters to stand up for what is right with the public education system. We need your voice and your advocacy. Join us and become a free member.

  • Support Choices in Education

    • Inform parents of the range of available choices in public education to meet students needs including current legislation such as: The Open Enrollment Act which allows students of failing schools as determined by the state to relocate to a better school within their district.

    • Educate parents and community to seek and support choices in education.

  • Promote Transparency and Accountability in Education

    • Educate parents on how to use meaningful data and analysis through workshops to help them make informed decisions about their child’s education.
    • Promote laws that equitable funding for all public school students.
    • Support parents in their advocacy for high quality student achievement regardless of ability and zip code.
    • Communicate timely and relevant information to educate parents on issues that directly impacts public education.
    • Educate parents on education policies and how those policies relate to their child.
    • Promote public education advancement in science and technology.
    • Educate and mobilize parents and community to ensure funding is used properly and for the advancement and improvement of all student academic achievement.

Why do Education Policymakers need to hear from PALs?
LEGISLATIVE ALERT: CALIFORNIA State legislators make numerous and critical education policy decisions that can affect your child’s academic future every year. Think parents do not have a voice? Think again! According to the California Department of Education CalEdFacts for 2009-2010 there are 6,189,908 K-12 public school students. Compare this to the 325,000 members of the largest education special interest group. Parents are clearly a far too silent majority when it comes to legislative decisions for their children. It is time for parents to make a change for the best interest of every student in California. It is time to get involved in legislation.
